Washington D.C. is all about powerful people tromping the streets in ill-fitting business casual separates, so it seems appropriate that Jones New York would bypass the whole chic New York thing and head straight to the bus shelters of Connecticut Avenue N.W. Their Power Women of D.C. campaign includes four Vanity Fairish-looking ads featuring the likes of Dee Dee Meyers reflecting in the back of a limo and Children’s Medical Center’s Nellie Robinson sporting pearls and taking notes on fancy desk. Jones New York is sort of like Chico’s for the corner office, but I can’t hate. I could totally see my mom being like, “Maybe I should rethink leather jackets for the work week…” and I can relate to those Georgetown Cupcake ladies trying not to get icing on their sensible sheaths.
